You read that right, everyone. W0CTL will be on the air for Field Day! We will be operating out of the parking lot in front of the Headquarters Building in Monroe, LA! Our very own KG5AGP - Beau Horton from the Ethernet and Broadband Network Operations Center will be running the table and making contacts. He will also be attempting a live video/audio stream while he is active! Select the 'Read More' link to find out more!
Our next EchoLink Net will is coming up quickly! The net will be Thursday, June 22nd at 0100z. This has been added to the Calendar and you can add it to your own calendar by clicking the event and selecting "copy to my calendar". We will be going over some club updates, one of which is a surprise! Don't miss out!
We now have a date for our first EchoLink net! Our first net will be Wednesday 7 June 2017 at 0100z. Go to the Calendar now and click the event to add it to your Google Calendar!
During the net we will discuss the state of the club, current plans, future plans, staff changes, allow for Q&A, and finally open it up for everyone to get to know one another. We hope to see you there! That's right, club members, the CenturyLink Employees' Amateur Radio Club now has their own Echolink Conference Server! We can be found at *W0CTL* on your device be it PC or mobile platform. With this comes a way for us to start getting some nets in and start reaching out to our members to let them know we are here and we are trying to get things back running.
With that said, our first ever EchoLink Net will be coming up as soon as the details are in place. We are shooting for the next week to be our first net. This net should be informative (giving updates on the status of the club, positions, and upcoming changes) and allow us to get to know those of us that are still here. Once we have a date and time set for the Net you can see it on the Calendar page as well as on the Updates page and the Facebook pages. For now, feel free to hop on and talk to anyone you happen to find. Could be myself or KM4YHZ our acting National Coordinator. 73, KG5AGP It has been quite some time since the last update for this site. That was due to the many layoffs and other business related dealings that really caused major issues with our Leadership Tree. Thankfully we have someone that has stepped up to take the reigns of our club, get us back active not only on the air but also in our communities, and help the restoration of the club back to its former glory............
As seen on our Facebook Page...Left-->Right: Rick Clark, KE5OQD; Beau Horton, KG5AGP; Monroe, LA HQ @ top of parking garage setting up the Buddipole for some HF work during the first ever attempt at the Monroe HQ... Unfortunately soon we say goodbye to one of our own... Rick Clark, KE5OQD, is leaving the company... Since he is doing so his position of Louisiana Public Liaison and Information Coordinator for the club has been passed down to our Webmaster/Facebook Coordinator Beau Horton, KG5AGP... Even though Mr. Rick is leaving the company he is still welcome to be part of W0CTL...
Mr. Rick, you will be missed at the office, but we will see you down the log... 73, good sir...
SKYWARN is a program of the US National Weather Servce (NWS). Its mission is to collect reports of localized severe weather. These reports are used to aid forecasters in issuing and verifying severe weather watches and warnings and to improve the forecasting and warning processes and the tools used to collect meteorological data.
Today was Ouachita Parish, LA's semi-annual SKYWARN Spotter course. In attendance we had our own Beau Horton [KG5AGP] from our headquarters in Monroe, LA. He was the only one from the club to have participated in his area. He received his certifications from both the Basic and Advanced SKYWARN Observer courses.
Well, everyone, it is a New Year! New Year means new bills unfortunately. Here we are faced with fees for the website and other needs across the nation for our club. We have not yet started charging dues to our members.....but the only way we can continue that way is if we can get enough donations to help us maintain everything. This year we have to pay up the website and are wanting to get some club swag (hats, shirts, lapel pins, etc), training materials, and emergency go kits; however, we cannot accomplish this without your help and support.
PLEASE DONATE TODAY BY CLICKING THE LINK BELOW TODAY!
Thanks again, everyone!
